The short version
- Stackscape has no accounts of its own. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Your progress (scores, coins, themes, settings) is saved on your phone. If you choose to sign in with Google Play Games or Game Center, it is also saved in your Google or Apple account.
- The game shows ads from Google AdMob and uses Google Firebase to count how the game is played and to report crashes. These use device identifiers, not your name.
- Where the law requires it, we ask first before ads are personalized, and you can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy options.
- We do not sell your personal information for money.
1. Who we are
Stackscape (the "game") and stackscape.app (the "website") are made by Axieo Technologies Inc., a company based in Ontario, Canada ("Axieo", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers the Stackscape app on Android and iOS and this website. It applies alongside our Terms of Service.
2. What we collect
a) Game progress, kept on your phone
The game saves your best scores, coins, unlocked themes and skins, missions, streaks and settings in a file on your phone. We do not receive this file. It is deleted if you uninstall the game (unless you use cloud save, below).
b) Optional sign-in: Google Play Games (Android) and Game Center (iOS)
Signing in is optional. If you do, Google or Apple share your player ID and display name with the game so it can show leaderboards and achievements, and save a copy of your game progress to your Google or Apple account (cloud save). Your scores appear on leaderboards that other players can see, depending on your Play Games or Game Center settings. These services are run by Google and Apple under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your Google or Apple password or email address.
c) Game analytics: Google Analytics for Firebase
To understand how the game is played and make it better, the game sends events such as: a round started or ended (with its score), an ad was shown or a reward was given, a theme was unlocked, the Daily Tower was played, or a mission was completed. With these events, Firebase also collects:
- an app instance ID (a random ID for this installation of the game),
- device model, operating system version, app version, language and screen size,
- approximate location (country or region), which Google works out from your IP address,
- basic usage information such as session length and first open time.
We do not link this data to your name or any account.
d) Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics
If the game crashes, it sends a crash report so we can fix the problem. A report includes the technical details of the crash (stack trace), device model, operating system version, app version, the time of the crash, free memory and storage, and a random installation ID.
e) Game settings from our server: Firebase Remote Config
The game downloads settings such as game speed and how often ads can appear, so we can tune the game without an update. This uses a random installation ID.
f) Advertising: Google AdMob
The game shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google collects information such as your device's advertising ID (Android Advertising ID, or Apple's IDFA if you allow tracking), IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. See section 3 for how consent works.
g) Things you choose to share or send
- Sharing a result: when you tap Share, the game makes a picture of your tower and a short text, and hands it to the app you pick (for example a messaging app). We do not see what you share or who you share it with.
- Emailing us: if you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to answer you.
- Purchases: if we offer an in-app purchase (such as Remove Ads), it is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive a confirmation of the purchase, never your payment card details.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address (unless you email us), phone number, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, or precise (GPS) location. The game has no chat and no user-made content.
3. Ads and consent
- Europe, the UK and Switzerland: before ads are personalized, the game shows Google's consent message (Google's User Messaging Platform). If you don't agree, Google shows non-personalized or limited ads, which still use some data for things like frequency capping, fraud prevention and measurement.
- US states with privacy laws (for example California): the game shows Google's US state message, which lets you opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising.
- iPhone: the game asks Apple's App Tracking Transparency question. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your IDFA is not shared and ads are not personalized based on tracking across other companies' apps and websites.
- Changing your mind: where these choices apply, Settings → Privacy options in the game opens the choices again at any time.
Ads never appear during play. Rewarded videos only play when you tap to watch one. Learn more about how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
4. Why we use it
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis (where GDPR / UK GDPR applies) |
|---|---|---|
| Run the game and keep your progress | Progress on your phone; cloud save if you sign in | Performance of our agreement with you |
| Leaderboards and achievements | Player ID, display name, scores | Performance of our agreement (you choose to sign in) |
| Fix crashes and keep the game stable | Crash reports | Our legitimate interest in a working game |
| Understand how the game is played and improve it | Analytics events and device information | Consent where required; otherwise our legitimate interest |
| Tune the game remotely | Installation ID | Our legitimate interest |
| Show ads that keep the game free | Advertising ID, IP address, device and ad interaction data | Consent for personalized ads; legitimate interest for non-personalized ads, fraud prevention and measurement |
| Answer your questions | Your email and message | Our legitimate interest in helping you |
5. Who receives it
We share information only with the service providers that make the game work:
- Google: AdMob (ads), Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config, and Google Play Games Services. Google Privacy Policy · Privacy and Security in Firebase
- Apple: Game Center and iCloud (only on iPhone, only if you sign in). Apple Privacy Policy
- Vercel: hosts this website. Vercel Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare: manages our domain name and forwards our email. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our players or others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business (in which case this policy continues to apply).
We do not sell personal information for money. Under some US state laws, letting ad partners use an advertising ID to show personalized ads can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can opt out as described in section 3.
6. How long we keep it
- Progress on your phone: until you uninstall the game or clear its data.
- Cloud save, leaderboards and achievements: in your Google or Apple account until you delete them there.
- Analytics: event data is kept for up to 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Crash reports: kept for about 90 days.
- Ad data: kept by Google under its own retention policies.
- Emails to us: up to 2 years after your question is resolved.
7. Your choices
- Ad privacy: Settings → Privacy options in the game (where it applies).
- Android: reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your phone).
- iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Sign out of Google Play Games or Game Center at any time. The game keeps working without it.
- Delete your progress: uninstall the game, or clear its data in your phone's settings. To delete cloud save data, remove it from your Play Games or Game Center / iCloud settings.
- Stop all data collection: uninstall the game.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, or US state laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how it's used, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to not be treated differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email support@stackscape.app with "Privacy request" in the subject. Because the game doesn't know who you are, the data held by Google is linked only to random IDs on your phone. We'll explain how to find them and help as far as we're able. We may need to confirm your request before acting on it, and we'll reply within 30 days.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the data protection authority where you live.
9. Children
Stackscape is made for teens and adults aged 13 and older. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your country). If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Where data goes
We are based in Canada, and our service providers, mainly Google, process data in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data protection laws from yours. When data from the EU, UK or Switzerland is transferred, our providers use safeguards approved for that purpose, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Security
We keep data collection small, use well-known providers that encrypt data in transit, and limit who at Axieo can access our accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you and the authorities about a serious breach where the law requires it.
12. This website
stackscape.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no ads. The demo on the home page saves your best demo score and sound setting only in your own browser. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for a short time to run and protect the site.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game changes, for example when we add a new feature. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and for important changes we'll also let you know in the game or the store listing.
